HammGrown Gardens

Dreaming, Designing, & Digging for Pollinators

in CLT, NC since 2024

Everyone’s heard about “saving the bees” at this point, but not everyone knows the scope of what that truly means or how it looks in practice. Simple efforts, like planting native to your region, are critically important to the survival of pollinators we share our yards with.

But maybe you don’t have time to research the intricacies of native plants, hunt down where to find them near you (spoiler: it’s not the big box store), know what signs of wildlife like to look for (peep the leaf look-a-like chrysalis pic below), or plant them yourself.

That’s where HammGrown Gardens enters the scene…

HammGrown Gardens Mission

…is to make pollinator-friendly gardening accessible to a wide audience by offering differing levels of services, charging below-industry pricing, and providing ongoing stewardship education to my clients.

I will forever favor planet over profit and operate sustainably, whether by avoiding gas powered tools, supporting other small local businesses whenever possible, and anything in between.

A landscaper, structural engineer, or architecture firm.

A heavy machines operator, mason, carpenter, or blacksmith.

A big business exclusively booking massive projects installed haphazardly with the sole purpose of profit.

What HammGrown Gardens is NOT…

A self-taught gardener who utilizes stewardship practices and principles put forth from the leading non-profit scientific organizations dedicated to pollinator conservation.

A conservationist devoted to naturescaping, or planting as naturally as possible in unison with Mother Nature while embracing as much biodiversity as possible.

A pollinator steward passionate about inspiring others to steward the wildlife outside our doorsteps, too.

A native plant enthusiast with five years experience growing dozens upon dozens of native perennials, shrubs, grasses, and trees.

A maker - I can think outside of the box, create unique solutions, and give items a new life rather than always purchasing new (hello, unique garden art!).

What I am…

What to expect working with me:

Collaboration - Once you establish habitat, you are now responsible to steward that habitat for your wild neighbors. Because of this commitment, I work closely with my clients every step of the way in an effort to educate , spread the spirit of stewardship, and inspire more pollinator garden creation!

Communication - Since native plants are not fully mainstream and can be unfortunately difficult to source, projects might be completed over several phases. I provide estimates before beginning any work and communicate any issues or changes as they arise, respecting my clients’ preferences and budget.

A Difference - I always say, “If you plant it, they will come”. You WILL see a major uptick in fauna after introducing biodiverse flora. Think butterflies, bees, beneficial bugs (ladybugs, lacewings), dragonflies, fireflies, birds, etc.!
